Just had a quick fly around NZDN and really enjoyed it, then tried to takeoff from NZTI and got lost trying to find the grass runway, framerate feels really good compared to the usual PNW KPAE area I fly around, good job Orbx this will be a nice one to explore.

Dunedin, plse, Stephen. The old Gaelic name for Edinburgh - store that up for your next trivia night. Yes and it was settled by an organised colony of Wee Frees, the Free Church of Scotland which thought the official C of S was too lax and too centralised. My great-grandfather five removed was one of the originals, and my brother is a Presbyterian minister while I played the role of the free-thinking academic in the family.

Couldn't help but smile at Adrian's announcement screenie. The livery shown on the Caravan is in fact from the far north of the country (Bay of Islands) where it never snows and the hills are most certainly not Alpine like those depicted.

But I can afford to say all this, as I have commited myself to wait for the DVD. Self-discipline is the ruination of a consumer society!

With warmest regards,

Ian McPhail

First impressions..

Install went well, until I ran up FSX starting from NZLX and every thing was a total mess, needless to say my heart sank. That problem was cured by disabling Tongass Fiords (even though it was lower in the priority it did clash for some reason). Anyway started a early morning flight by circling the Alexandra basin and was pretty much impressed.
The flight followed the Clutha river through to Cromwell onto Wanaka up the Matukituki river to go around the north face of Aspiring. All the way pretty much gobsmacked by the experience so far. The flight continued over the Alps to the Milford Sounds entrance for a 11 touchdown. Spotting glaciers and glacial lakes along the way with the native bush blending in so beautifully. All in all a fantastic flight.

John and the crew all I can say is your team has given me the most humbling flight sim experience I have ever ever had, and that was only the inaugural test flight. More to come.

Thank you
Regards Pete

Gobsmacked ! Fantastic scenery, truely beautiful. And how did you manage to display such a tree density without frame-rate impact ? Even a quarter of what I see now would have brought my computer to a grinding halt. Can previous sceneries be updated with this tech ?

Thanks for the Kiwi geography/history lesson. What I don't know about both of them in regard to New Zealand is inexcusable. My exposure to the country has been mainly confined to the occasional telephone conversation with a colleague in Wellington and ongoing correspondence with persons who have contacted me for professional reasons. Of course, there is also "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy! Mind you, I only know anything substantive about Australia by flying it in FSX for years, and the consequent raising of personal interest and attention to it's real world counterpart.

Hate to admit this sign of hyperintensity, but I have found myself searching Australian national press reports and even reading your parliament's hansards from time to time in order to get an idea of your issues of the day. I guess for most of us there is an overlap between the imaginary and the actual worlds that is present, but difficult to define. In any case I can now look forward to a steady increase of interest and knowledge of New Zealand. It is interesting to note how many of us can relate so well to each other and each other's place because of a common bond of a flight simulation program.

As wonderful as this all is it's kind of creepy too isn't it? OK, enough thread diversion, back to FTX's New Zealand.

Kind regards,

PS: That reminds me. I once found (somewhere) and studied the minutes of the public meetings that determined the fate of Warnervale's airport, and along with much of the rest of the world, followed the political manoverings of Canberra's sordid game of Prime Ministerial musical chair.

Anybody wishing to download from New Zealand via FSS store I would suggest using the Singapore sever.
I tried from late last night and again at 5-6am this morning and it was going to take from 10-12 hours. from the Australian sever.
Took me 45min from Singapore.
Going to have a coffee before I start ( cough! ) a flawless install. ::)

I downloaed the NZ product, using the U.S.Server.It took 22 minutes.

Before I attempt installing it.I want to ask. When I run the installer, does it add another region icon in FTX Central, along with the default/PNW and AU for switching from one region to another etc?.

I'm not sure what to expect when I run the installer, until I get to the readme when it's done.
