I wonder now that home users are in if PMDG will change there current decision on products for p3d, that the only thing that will hold me back.

It seems you can port over the NGX to P3D:

Just an FYI for those wondering about "Trackir"

i have been using Prepar3d for about 3 months and find that most addons can be ported over from FSX. One thing I was most concerned with was Trackir not working with Prepar3d. Fortunately there is a workaround but you will need a fully licensed copy of EZCA to work with trackir. Once you have this your dreams will come true. Any questions don't hesitate to PM me as I have been into depth with porting alot of addons over, including NGX which I might add I am getting a constant, yes constant, FPS of 30 with an external framerate limiter. Something tells me that the new 1.3 update has improved FPS.

Where did you get that information ?

John Nicols from Lockheed Martin.

I must admit the pricing of P3D is great for home use, its on me list now as i was going to wait until 2.0 but at $50 its well worth buying :)

It is great, I even received a refund of $422NZD for the retail version in which I initially paid $499USD.

That's impressive. Looks like they're making a concerted effort to get a good reputation with this product and be thoroughly professional from the very start. If I were anything to do with Lockheed Martin, I'd try to ensure that *nothing* damages the image of the company, as there's more at stake than just a "flight sim".

Looks very much like I'll be joining your flight school, Kelvin ;-)

At the risk of de-railing this thread entirely (LOL) ... if it's a patch or a logo you need ... I'm your man! Graphics was my "previous life". Check your email soon(ish) ... I'm definitely coming to your flight school open day ;-)

Just a question about this, do I have to remove all of my installed planes, gauges and scenery before installing the update? It takes ages to reinstall everything and get it working properly?

Another fairly basic question. I've had no interest whatever in P3D up to this point since FSX meets most of my flight sim needs. If Orbx are now saying that their future products will be tied to P3D, then I need to reassess the situation. However, a fair proportion of my aircraft require not just FSX but Acceleration as a base on which to run. I assume that P3D provides none of the extra facilities that come with Acceleration such as an additional helicopter FDE model. Please can someone with experience of P3D confirm or deny this assumption.

Thanks in advance for any help,

I downloaded and tried the latest version of P3D with the demo of the PNW region. I was able to try out the C172 and Bonanza F33, however I was disappointed to see that the reality-xp plugins don't work at all and require you to purchase a very expensive professional license in order to use them. This is major killer for me, and without them I won't be using P3D. Also, it appears that the developer of RXP is pretty difficult to get hold off and all activity seems to have halted, which is unfortunate. The ORBX demo scenery looks and works perfectly :-)

I did however, get ezdok working after some tinkering. My joystick however didn't work the same as it does in FSX, the throttle is out of sync, and I can't seem to tune it work properly. Besides these issues, it looks pretty good. It's just FSX with a nicer interface, and some annoyances fixed (Like sound disappearing when you tab out of the window, and the long delay when maximizing the window again).

Try copying the standard.xml from the Controls Directory of FSX. Worked for my CH/Saitek controls.
